VLMP is a vertical linear motion press; a heat set insert press tool. It's a partially 3D printed tool that allows for mounting of a soldering iron so that when pressing brass threaded inserts into 3D printed parts they can be done with precision and control making your results squarer and more consistent.

Assembly

The assembly is really straightforward, you probably don't need more than a picture to do it, but nevertheless, I've made a manual here for you. VLMP Guide.

You'll need a few tools:

2mm Hex/Allen Key

3mm Hex/Allen Key

8mm Spanner/Socket (for M5 Nuts)

10mm thin spanner (for V-slot Wheel Adjustment)

I feel I've completely redesigned this tool since I first worked on it so I do not consider this a derivative, adaptation or modification of any previous design. Nevertheless here are the links for the old design that inspired my previous creation which led to this current design.

*soldering iron grips can come in any size so it will fit provided you use the right size, and don't have some crazy 6ft soldering iron.
